    Article summary

We are thrilled to announce the release of OS 55 which includes several exciting updates and improvements that we believe our users will appreciate. Additionally, OS 55 contains critical security and stability fixes, so we strongly encourage all Edge Device users to upgrade to this latest release. Details managing your Edge Device firmware or enabling autoupdates can be found in the Tulip Knowledge Base.

    Machine Kits Quick Configuration

Tulip was excited to announce the recent launch of the Machine Kit. The Machine Kit is a great tool for converting a legacy piece of equipment into a smart machine that can report information to Tulip regarding it’s state. With OS55, both Edge IO and Edge MC can be configured to work as a Machine Kit. This will allow you to automatically deploy the pre-built NodeRed flow, setup a new machine type, create machine tiggers, and installer the Machine Monitoring Terminal Library App.

You can access the quick configuration menu from the Edge Device UI.

    Player on Edge IO Improvements

We have updated the Edge IO Player to version 2.4. Please stay posted for the Player 2.4 release announcement.

Users can now specify the screen resolution of the display they have connected when running Player on Edge IO. This can be configured via a dropdown menu in the Edge Device UI.

    Improved MQTT Support

The local broker now supports AMQP, MQTT, and zbus. This is particularly impactful for customer building NodeRed flows on their Edge Devices. The Edge Device is now capable of receiving MQTT messages and routing them to the NodeRed flow.

    Security Updates

At Tulip, we take security very seriously. We are constantly monitoring for potential security vulnerabilities and implementing patches and fixed. OS55 includes several important security updates to help protect our users from potential threats.
