# Tulip OS 56 Release - January 2024

We are thrilled to announce the release of OS 56 which includes several exciting updates and improvements that we believe our users will appreciate. Additionally, OS 56 contains critical security and stability fixes, so we strongly encourage all Edge Device users to upgrade to this latest release. ## Node-RED

Tulip will upgrade Node-RED to v3 and deprecate Node-RED v1 in September 2024. See this [community post](https://community.tulip.co/t/node-red-v1-deprecation-notice-node-red-upgrade-cadence/10212) for more information.

Upon logging into their Edge device, users can upgrade and roll back their device’s Node-RED version. In addition, users will notice that Node-RED has a question mark icon that provides additional information.

## Torque Open Protocol Driver

For devices that support the driver, users will have an additional function in the torque open protocol driver that allows users to get angle and torque data for devices that support MID 0900. ## Portal Improvements

When opening the portal, users will notice an improved layout on the right side panel and status badges replacing the dots on the network configuration.

#### Security Updates

At Tulip, we take security very seriously. We are constantly monitoring for potential security vulnerabilities and implementing patches and fixes. OS56 includes several important security updates to help protect our users from potential threats.

#### General Improvements and Bug Fixes

- Resolved an issue where an Edge Device would change its MAC address after rebooting several times.
