# Set up the Mitutoyo U-WAVE Receiver for Windows Tulip Player

## Setting up the Mitutoyo U-WAVE Receiver for Windows Tulip Player

The [Mitutoyo U-WAVE Receiver](https://www.mitutoyo.com/products/small-tool-instruments-and-data-management/data-management-spc/u-wave/u-wave-receiver/) allows wireless communication with a variety of Digimatic Gauges and Calipers. The support for this device is available in [Windows Tulip Player](https://download.tulip.co/) (v1.7.x or higher) and Edge Device (OS 51 or higher).

NOTE

Edge devices require the driver to be enabled.

Before using the U-WAVE Receiver with Windows Tulip Player, the edge drivers for this device needs to be installed for Windows to properly interface with the device.

1. Download the **[DOWNLOAD U-WAVEPAK 1.022B](https://www.mitutoyo.co.uk/download_file/view/12514/525)** zip file on your Windows PC and extract it.
2. The extracted contents would have a **Drivers** folder as shown below.

1. The U-WAVE Receiver now works with the Windows Tulip Player application.
2. You may need to manually pair the U-WAVE Transmitter with the U-WAVE Receiver. The Tulip Player Application does not automatically handle this. For instructions, see [U-WAVE - Pair Transmitter and Receiver for Metrology Data Collection](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNVLmyG4D5g&t=36s)
3. The U-Wave software must not be running on the computer for the U-wave-R to function inside Tulip.

**Edge Device**

**Edge Devices** are any hardware intended to connect physical things to the cloud. This can include entirely mechanical devices, older machines without network functionality, PLCs, and more.

Tulip sells the **Edge IO** and **Edge MC** that interface directly into **Triggers** in a breeze, but Tulip can also support other Edge Devices.

**Tulip Player**

**Tulip Player** is the Windows/Mac executable program where users can run Tulip apps. Tulip player allows you to create a more seamless user experience by removing the need for a web browser and allows increased IT controls.
