# Player 2.8.0 Release - June 2025

We're excited to announce the release of Tulip Desktop Player version 2.8.0.

Version 2.8.0 of Desktop Player will be available for download by 9:00PM ET on June 7th, 2025! If you have auto updates enabled, the Desktop Player application will update in the background and changes will take effect the next time the application is restarted. Alternatively, you can manually initiate the update process from the file menu.

## Feature Enhancements

As part of this latest release, we will have 4 new drivers available in **Player**.

A few drivers will require you to add them to your instance through [Tulip Library](https://library.tulip.co/search?section=Devices).

Others will either by enabled by default, like Torque Open Protocol, and some you may have to enable (shown below).

In addition, with this latest player release, users will be able to build their own drivers using Modbus, Torque Open Protocol, HiD, and Serial.
