# Player 2.6.0 Release - August 2024

We're excited to announce the release of Tulip Desktop Player version 2.6.0.

Version 2.6.0 of Desktop Player will be available for download by 9:00PM ET tomorrow (August 17th, 2024)! If you have auto updates enabled, the Desktop Player application will update in the background and changes will take effect the next time the application is restarted. Alternatively, you can manually initiate the update process from the file menu.

### Player Enhancements

- Support for Windows path variables (such as %APPDATA%) in the environment variable value to customize the folder location that Player users for persistent storage. For more info, see this [article](https://support.tulip.co/docs/tulip-player-enterprise-deployments).

### Device Enhancements

- On the Desktop Player, users will notice support for additional foot pedal devices.

### Vision Improvements

- On the app trigger editor, users will notice the snapshot uploaded event where they can choose where to store a snapshot. Previously, they would need to figure out a different method to store images. This will make it easier for users to take pictures and save them.
- In the app editor, when configuring a video trigger, you can start, terminate, or save the video recording with this trigger. Previously, there wasn't a save video trigger. This should allow users to save video of a quality defect to better identify issues in their processes.

- For Allied Vision cameras, users can utilize a retry mechanism in case of driver failures/camera busy.

### Feature Deprecations

- Deprecate the Omega OSMINI-USB temperature sensor driver. The device has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

### Bugs Fixes, Security, and Performance Improvements

- Fixes an issue where auto update may fail if the update package is locked by another process.
- Fixes an issue where state of the app execution wasn’t persisted when switching to a different Tulip instance through the “Connect New Server“ screen.
- Fixes the 'Error checking for updates' error when starting player from downloads directory on the MacOS Player.
