Purpose of this article

The purpose of this article is to illustrate the primary functions of the Batch Production Management app suite and provide a detailed guide on how to utilize the app suite functionalities. It explains how different apps within the suite are linked together and clarifies their individual purposes. The article also includes essential configuration steps necessary for the usage of apps, alongside options for customization.
This app suite is a part of Tulip’s Composable MES for Pharma app suite.

The main goal of the Batch Production Management App Suite is to provide management apps that complement the Electronic Batch Record app suite. It includes a Mobile Supervisor Terminal, an Exception and Performance Dashboard, and a Batch Production Dashboard.

Tulip Tables in the app

In this section, we will explain the types of tables used by the Batch Production Management App Suite’s applications. All the tables utilized by the applications in the Composable MES for Pharma app suite are part of Tulip’s Common Data Model.

The dashboards in this app suite are built on top of the Equipment & Assets, Comments and Exceptions, and Materials tables.

The Mobile Supervisor Terminal utilises the following tables:
Samples
Inspection Results
Containers
Comments and Exceptions
Batches
Corrections
Equipment and Assets
Scales
Rooms

Mobile Supervisor Terminal

The Mobile Supervisor Terminal allows real-time monitoring of the shop floor status. Its main step is the Terminal from where the supervising personnel can navigate to the Batches, Corrections, Comments, Equipment, and Samples steps. At each step, the supervisor can select and review a log from the table associated with the step they are on. For example, in the Batches step, the supervisor can select a batch and review it, whereas in the Correction step, the supervisor can select a correction log and review it.

Exception and Performance Dashboard

The Exception and Performance Dashboard provides valuable insights into production exceptions and performance metrics. It is divided into two main sections: Exceptions and Performance.

Exceptions Section:
This section highlights five key analytics related to production exceptions:

  1. Open Exceptions – Displays the number of unresolved exceptions.
  2. Exceptions in Review – Shows exceptions that are currently under review.
  3. Today's Exceptions – Lists exceptions that have occurred today.
  4. This Week's Exceptions – Tracks exceptions that have occurred over the past week.
  5. This Month's Exceptions – Provides a summary of exceptions for the current month.

Additionally, a bar chart in this section illustrates the Reasons for This Week's Exceptions, giving a visual breakdown of exception causes.

Performance Section:
The performance section tracks production metrics through the following analytics:

  1. Today's Production Quantity – Shows the total production output for the current day.
  2. This Week's Packaging Production – Displays the packaging production for the week, related to the finished product.
These analytics help monitor ongoing production activities and provide insights into areas that may require attention.

Batch Production Dashboard

The Batch Production Dashboard contains seven analytics components, all focused on production.
The first component is Pending Cleaning. This is essentially the Equipment and Asset table with filters applied. It showcases the equipment that currently has a dirty status.

The second component is a table that shows today's batches and their current statuses.
Next, there are two components that display the number of exceptions made today and this week, respectively.
The final three components showcase the trends in blending production, tablet production, and packaging production for the current week.
