# Barcode Scanner Unit Tests

## Barcode Scanner Unit Tests

*Use this application in order to test whether your barcode scanner has been set up correctly and is functioning as desired*

Barcode Minimum Length

On versions before r332/LTS 15, the min length is 3. After r332, the minimum length is 1.

**Purpose**

The purpose of the Barcode Scanner Unit Tests application is to allow users to test whether their Barcode Scanners are connected correctly and are functioning as desired. This application is designed in order to test Barcode Scanners connected to an IO Gateway via USB or connected directly to a computer running the Tulip player.

**Setup**

In order for this application to be used, a Barcode Scanner is required. A Tulip IO Gateway might be required depending on how you decide to set up your Barcode Scanner.

Instructions for setting up a Tulip IO Gateway can be found [here](https://support.tulip.co/docs/setting-up-a-tulip-io-gateway)

**How it works**

This application is designed to test whether your Barcode Scanner is connected and is functioning correctly. When the application is opened, the user is is prompted with a screen showing a grey box, along with instructions to scan a 2-D barcode. Once the user scans the 2-D barcode, the grey box should turn green and should contain the 2-D barcode data in the box if the device is connected correctly and is working as intended. Otherwise, the user has the option to access a support article which provides relevant instructions regarding how to setup a Barcode Scanner and get it functioning.
