An Overview of the Enterprise App Exchange

Article Summary

This article is a guide on how to use Tulip’s Enterprise App Exchange feature.

Similar to how users can install apps from the Tulip Library, the Enterprise App Exchange feature allows users to create a library of apps within their instance to easily share with other workspaces, or other instances. A prerequisite to create EAE apps is to enable workspaces and have a designated Workspace to house the Enterprise App Exchange applications.

What is the Enterprise App Exchange?

The Enterprise App Exchange feature allows users to share app templates across multiple workspaces or instances.

Enable the Enterprise App Exchange Feature

To enable the Enterprise App Exchange feature, click the user icon on the top right of the screen, then go to Account Settings in the dropdown tab. In the left navigation, click on App Exchange. Toggle the Enable Enterprise App Exchange button and select a Workspace from which you can add apps to the Enterprise App Exchange.

Once you have more than one app on the app exchange, an expandable list reveals data associated with the apps installed across multiple instances/workspaces and subscriptions to this app exchange.

Syncing Instances

NOTE

Contact Tulip Support to enable this feature on both instances.

While it's not possible to live sync apps between instances, you can share the apps uploaded to your Enterprise App Exchange. This is ideal in situation where you want a template solution for apps, or the ability to create iterations based on a single template. Sharing apps across instances in your company ensures the foundation stays consistent, including but not limited to adoption of a standard UI.

To connect your App Exchange content to another instance, navigate to the App Exchange page. In the parent instance, the instance sharing its App Exchange, click + Invite.

EAE Connect Instance

Enter the child instance, the instance connecting to the parent, URL and click Get Key.
The Key acts as a secure password to sync the instances. Copy the Key, which is has a unique one-time use.

In the child instance's App Exchange page, click + Add App Exchange.

Enter the Instance URL of the parent instance and paste the Secret Key, then click Subscribe.

EAE Add App Exchange

Make sure the connection is correctly set up and check that you can import from the parent instance's app exchange. The icon next to the app name is different, and the user profile will simply read "External User", rather than show the user profile.
